A man wanted for aggravated robbery led Houston police on a high-speed chase on Tuesday after carjacking and threatening a man with a 2-by-4 wooden plank at a gas station on 59 E. Crosstimbers Street around 8 a.m. The suspect fled across the northeast side of Houston, with officers losing sight of the vehicle twice during the pursuit, according to Click2Houston.
The Houston Police Department used license plate readers and a police helicopter to track the stolen car through Little York Road, Mesa Road, Tidwell Road, and Hardy Street. The chase was eventually called off in southeastern Houston after the suspect continued evading capture.
Police stopped a stolen SUV on Long Drive near Cullinan Park in the Gulfcrest neighborhood using a PIT maneuver, as per FOX 26 Houston. The suspect ran into a nearby home but surrendered without anyone being hurt. The suspect faces an aggravated robbery in Randall County, a Texas parole warrant, and other charges from Tuesday. His name has not been released.
