The Duval County School Police recently added a dash of grace to their usual duty gear by attending the Westview K-8 Cancer Walk, an event aimed at rallying support for those affected by one of humanity's most persistent adversaries: cancer. In a public declaration of their involvement, the department took to social media to express their appreciation for being part of such a communal cause. "Proud to support our schools and our community!" according to Duval County School Police post.
Officers joined a community walk to engage with local youth, students, and families, seeing the event as more than a symbolic gesture. The walk offered a chance to build connections, demonstrate solidarity, and strengthen trust between law enforcement and the community.
According to the post, this engagement is just the beginning of a more involved approach to community relations. "We truly enjoy getting out into our schools and neighborhoods, building relationships, and supporting the events that bring our community together," the Duval County School Police expressed.
