The East Village now features a new wine-focused venue from the team behind Claud and Penny. According to Eater NY, partners Chase Sinzer and Joshua Pinsky have opened Stars, an intimate wine bar with a collection of over 1,000 bottles and more than 20 options available by the glass.

At 450 square feet, Stars is designed to focus on wine. The space includes a hand-finished U-shaped zinc bar with seating for 12, as well as limited standing room, available on a walk-in basis. Visitors can enjoy a glass of wine before or after dining at nearby restaurants and have the opportunity to interact with the on-site sommeliers, as reported by Eater NY.

Stars also features a small menu of snacks intended to pair with its wine selection, including items such as deviled eggs ($8) and griddled shrimp toast ($14), highlighted by Eater NY for the use of mandolined lemon. The menu emphasizes simple dishes designed to complement the wine offerings and enhance the overall tasting experience.

Grub Street reports that Sinzer and Pinsky drew on their experience at restaurants such as Momofuku Ko and Maialino to develop a wine list that combines both high-end and more accessible options. The list includes premium bottles from notable regions as well as selections intended to be approachable, creating a setting suitable for both a brief visit or a longer stay. The interior features burgundy tile and a faux skylight, with amber-toned lighting throughout the space.
