As reported by WFTV, the altercation escalated to the point where the male suspect drew and fired the weapon between 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m., following a verbal confrontation. No injuries were reported in the incident, which disturbed the peace of what seemed to be a casual park visit for many.
The police believe this to be an isolated incident, as the parties involved appear to be acquainted, which reduces the wider threat to the community. Anyone who might have information about the individuals or witnesses to the gunfire is encouraged to step forward. The department elaborates that the gunfire erupted after a meeting with individuals at the park, and the male subject discharged a handgun during what became a heated exchange.
