On Christmas morning, a fire in Modesto led to the displacement of eight individuals, including a child. The Modesto Fire Department was dispatched to the 1800 block of Las Vegas Street shortly after 7:30 a.m. due to a reported structure fire, ABC10 stated.
Firefighting teams quickly contained a blaze that engulfed a detached building behind a residence, preventing it from spreading to nearby homes, ABC10 reported. The response included Engines 1, 2, 10, 15, and 19, Quint 18, Medic 1, and Battalion Chiefs 1 and 3.
No injuries were reported, and the fire’s cause is under investigation. The Red Cross provided immediate assistance to the seven adults and one child displaced by the incident.
FOX40 reported that crews from Modesto, Stanislaus, and Turlock Fire Departments responded quickly, helping contain the fire and protect the neighborhood. The American Red Cross is providing aid to those affected.
