In a gesture of festive goodwill, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office brought a little holiday cheer to the community by offering a chance for residents to snap a photo with Santa Claus at no cost. As per the statement released through their official social media channels, the event took place on Monday, December 15th, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the junction of FM 1110 & Alameda. El Paso County Sheriff Oscar Ugarte invited participants to bring their own phones or cameras to capture the moment with St. Nick.
This event, part of the larger weave of local holiday happenings, aimed to engage the community in a positive interaction with law enforcement. Convenience was a key aspect in the planning; families and folks finishing day's labor could drop by, without the burden of entrance fees or the hassle of pre-scheduled bookings. Residents were encouraged to take part in this snapshot moment, as put forth by El Paso County Sheriff Oscar Ugarte on Facebook: "A free photo setup will be provided—just bring your own phone or camera!"
The initiative by the Sheriff's Office can be viewed not solely as an outreach effort but also as an attempt to forge a more personable relationship between law enforcement and El Paso's community members. Events of this nature serve as subtle threads in the larger fabric of community policing, seeking to build trust and collaboration between the public and those sworn to protect them.
