
Elgin police are asking the public to keep an eye out for 55-year-old Miguel Segura, who has been missing since Nov. 25 after leaving the downtown Elgin area. Officers say Segura was last spotted near State Street and National Street and is known to spend time along the Fox River bike path and at Clock Tower Plaza. A missing-person case was opened after a report was filed on Nov. 29, and Segura’s family later agreed to share his photo to help widen the search. Detectives are urging anyone who might have seen him to speak up.
Police description and search steps
According to the Elgin Police Department's Facebook post, Segura is about 5 feet 5 inches tall and roughly 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Investigators say he was last seen wearing a dark baseball hat, a black, red and white Nike jacket, and dark blue pants. Detectives report they have been talking with friends, interviewing nearby businesses, reviewing surveillance footage and canvassing locations as part of their follow-up. The case is listed under number 2025-76430, with the missing-person report taken on Nov. 29.

Police note that Segura is a familiar face in downtown Elgin, often spending time at the Butera Grocery in Clock Tower Plaza and along stretches of the Fox River bike path. He was last seen on Nov. 25 in the area of State and National streets. The department wrote that there is “no information received that suggests Mr. Segura is in danger or a danger to himself or others,” but they are still actively working the case.
