A fatal multiple-vehicle collision in Baltimore County this morning is currently under investigation by the Maryland State Police Crash Team. An announcement posted on the Maryland State Police website detailed that the accident resulted in the death of 31-year-old James Beckham from Essex. Hospitalized following the crash, Beckham later succumbed to his injuries. He was the driver and sole occupant of a Nissan Sentra involved in the incident, which included three other vehicles.
The collision, which occurred early in the day, seemed to suddenly escalate as Beckham's vehicle hit a Toyota C-HR, which in turn led to impacts with a Nissan Altima and a Toyota RAV4. Dante Summers, 26, from Nottingham, Maryland, the driver of the Altima, was also injured and quickly transported to a hospital for treatment. Despite the chaos, the individuals in the Honda C-HR and the Toyota RAV4 were fortunate enough to escape unscathed. Troops from the Golden Ring Barrack responded swiftly to the crash site on the inner loop of I-695 at Perring Parkway, aiming to rigorously piece together the narrative of the crash.
State troopers joined by Baltimore County emergency medical services attended the devastating scene. Members of the Baltimore County Police Department were called in to assist. To manage the ensuing traffic disruption, personnel from the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration implemented road closures and detours, which persisted until the road reopened around 11:30 a.m.
