As the festive season comes to a close, Euless is on a mission to effectively transform holiday waste into something valuable. The city encourages residents not to discard their live Christmas trees haphazardly but instead, participate in a recycling program that contributes to the community's environmental sustainability. The Euless Family Life Center, located at 300 W. Midway Drive, is now accepting undressed Christmas trees for recycling, a service running from December 26 through January 10, as reported by the City of Euless.
With ease, citizens can drop their trees off on the northeast side of the Recreation Center during this period. It's imperative, however, to ensure that all ornaments, tinsel, and lights are removed before drop-off. This small act of preparation helps significantly to quickly convert the discarded trees into mulch. Indeed, this initiative not only keeps the city green but also generates roughly 10,800 pounds of mulch annually, as detailed by the City of Euless. This mulch proves indispensable in maintaining the vibrancy and health of local parks and medians.
To further engage and educate the community on the benefits of recycling and mulching, the Euless Parks Department will be hosting a demonstration event. On January 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., residents can witness the transformation of their Christmas trees into mulch first-hand. Moreover, attendees are invited to bring a bag to take some of this mulch home for their own gardens, free of charge. This interactive feature of the program not only promotes participation but also provides tangible benefits for personal use.
