As the holiday season flourishes with festivities and gift exchanges, the Euless Police Department has issued a stern warning about the unwelcome return of a less festive seasonal tradition: scams. The department recently took to social media to alert citizens of the rising tide of deceitful callers preying upon unsuspecting individuals with threats of non-existent warrants and other fabrications designed to extract money through the most modern means available.
The warning, shared on the Euless Police Department's Facebook post, emphasized that these scammers are sophisticated, using fear of legal entanglements to persuade people to part with their hard-earned cash, claiming that such payments will "resolve" supposed warrants. "This is a scam. DO NOT SEND MONEY — ever," the Euless PD cautioned. The alert spells it out crystal clear: no law enforcement agency, be it Euless PD, your local bank, or any other ostensibly official entity, will call to demand immediate payment in Bitcoin, gift cards, or other non-traditional currencies.
Equally alarming is the technique in which these scam artists operate, pressuring their targets to act quickly, often invoking the threat of arrest, insisting on the supposed urgency, and the need for confidentiality—tactics specifically designed to isolate and intimidate the recipient of the call into compliance. To counteract these tactics, the Euless Police Department advised a simple yet effective response: hang up immediately.
They also encourage the community to report such incidents directly to the police department by calling 817-685-1526. In closing, the post from Euless PD not only reminds residents to protect their financial well-being but also to retain the true spirit of the holiday season: "Stay alert, stay safe, and have a wonderful holiday season, Euless."
