Tensions ran high in Fairfield yesterday as a series of disturbing events unfolded, beginning with an attempted robbery at a local bakery. A suspect, now identified as 35-year-old Akeem Web of Fairfield, reportedly threatened bakery employees with a knife around 8:10 AM, an altercation that saw the employees defending themselves with whatever was at hand, such as large baking sheets, as stated in a social media post from the Fairfield, CA Police Department.
This incident was not the end of Web's alleged crime spree, for shortly thereafter a man matching his description continued to spread chaos, damaging vehicles and issuing threats in the vicinity, which prompted another swift response from Fairfield Police officers who connected the dots and after locating and engaging in a brief foot pursuit apprehended the suspect; subsequently, they tied him to an earlier commercial burglary, this also confirmed in the police department's social media update.
Web's arrest came without further incident, and he is now facing a basket of felony charges.
