The Fairfield Police Department reported a fatal shooting incident that occurred yesterday on Cambridge Drive. At around 1:07 PM, a 40-year-old male was found suffering a gunshot wound. Despite the Fairfield Police and Fairfield Fire Department's efforts to provide medical assistance, the victim died from his injuries. The suspect, a 21-year-old Fairfield resident acquainted with the victim, had initially fled the crime scene but was subsequently apprehended thanks to the vigilance of the fire department crew.
As detailed in a social media post by the Fairfield Police Department, the quick response from the Engine 37 crew led to the crucial spotting of the suspect, which paved the way for his prompt arrest.
The Fairfield Police's Investigations Division has now taken the reins of the ongoing investigation. However, officers have withheld further details to maintain the integrity of the investigation and out of respect for the victim's family.
