Two men carried out a burglary at Jay's Liquors in Fall River on Thanksgiving night, resulting in serious charges. According to the Fall River Police Department, the suspects forced entry through a rear door and stole nearly $3,600 worth of liquor, vapes, and other items.
Police reported that the store alarm was triggered by motion sensors, and surveillance footage showed the two suspects making multiple trips to load their stolen items into a vehicle. Officers found a kicked-in door, and the theft was documented on the store’s security cameras.
In the days following the burglary, Fall River police, led by Det. Matthew Gauvin of the Major Case Division identified suspects using footage from multiple cameras, linking the crime to residents of Fordney Street Apartments. The evidence provided probable cause for a search warrant.
During the search, two juveniles, ages 16 and 17, were taken into custody. They are charged with Breaking & Entering at Night for Felony, Larceny from a Building, and Vandalism. Authorities recovered stolen merchandise, clothing, and tools used in the burglary. The investigation is ongoing for any additional offenses.
The Fall River Police Department posted on social media, commending the investigation. “This is another great example of amazing police and investigative work. Through diligent collection and review of evidence, these two juveniles can be brought to answer for the crimes they are accused of. Our MCD has a remarkably high clearance rate for their investigations and cases like this sends a clear message...They will find you,” the post stated.
