A movie night at the Cinemark theater in Folsom was disrupted after a reported gunshot prompted multiple emergency calls around 6:45 p.m. Officers responded quickly as patrons evacuated, but the situation was later found to be a false alarm, as reported by the Folsom Police Department.
The incident stemmed from an altercation between two individuals, leading one to mistakenly believe a gunshot had been fired. "Officers secured the theater and determined that no shooting had occurred, nor had a firearm been observed," the Folsom Police Department stated.
A dispute at a theater caused patrons to leave quickly, but no one was hurt. According to the Folsom Police Department on their Facebook page, "All involved parties were contacted and there is no threat to the public." After the investigation, the theater reopened.
