
An industrial accident at the Yolo County Central Landfill compost facility resulted in the death of a Northern Recycling dump truck driver when his load tipped onto the cab. The Davis Fire Department responded, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene, with the Sheriff's Office and Cal/OSHA now investigating, according to the Yolo County.
Support has been provided for Northern Recycling employees through the Davis Police Department's Trauma and Grief Support team and the county's Employee Assistance Program. Chair Mary Vixie Sandy said, "Our hearts go out to the family, friends, and coworkers of the individual who tragically lost their life this morning," as reported by the Yolo County.
Privacy has been requested as the Yolo County Coroner's Office notifies the family of a person who died in an accident at Northern Recycling, a private recycling and composting facility on county-leased land. Media inquiries are directed to the Yolo County Sheriff's Office. The investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the accident. County officials said, "We are deeply grateful to the first responders and staff who acted swiftly and professionally under very difficult circumstances."
