City of Denton Fire Department reported on social media that the incident occurred around 6:38 p.m., requiring the eastbound section of the road to be closed for several hours. The identity of the victim has not been disclosed as of the time of the report.

The City of Denton Fire Department urged drivers to avoid the area immediately following the crash, advising that the closure would significantly impact traffic flow. According to the City of Denton Fire Department, provided at 7:55 p.m., "The road has been cleared and is reopened. We are sad to report that the pedestrian was killed in the crash."
