A tragic collision has left one person dead and another critically injured on DC-295, as reported by the Metropolitan Police Department's Major Crash Investigations Unit. The incident occurred early Tuesday morning, December 2, when a Mercedes E350, driven southbound in the wrong direction of the northbound lanes, collided with a northbound Audi Q7.
Authorities, dispatched to the crash site north of the Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast exit around 3:17 a.m., observed the aftermath of what appeared to be a high-speed impact. DC Fire and EMS teams made valiant efforts at life-saving, yet the driver of the Mercedes, identified as Franyana Williams, 40, of District Heights, MD, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Audi was transported to a local hospital in a critical state, according to MPD's official release.
