
On the evening of December 25th, a structure fire erupted at a one-story row of commercial units located at 12780 W Pierce St in Pacoima, with plumes of smoke visible upon the arrival of emergency services. As reported by the Los Angeles Fire Department, firefighters took an offensive approach to locate and combat the blaze. The incident, marked as INC#1585, began at approximately 9:36 PM and soon after, additional firefighters were called to the scene to assist.
Despite the late hour, 46 firefighters battled the fire and achieved a knockdown in 24 minutes, a testament to their relentless effort and swift response. The team managed to locate the origin of the fire – an auto ignited within one of the commercial units. According to a report by the Los Angeles Fire Department, they successfully contained the fire, preventing extension to adjacent units. Remarkably, no injuries were reported in the incident.
This event, occurring amidst the holiday season, serves as a reminder of the ever-present risks that can interrupt the festivities with an alarming jolt. Pacoima's Fire Station 98, Battalion 12, and the Valley Bureau, among others from Council District 7, were involved in this swift action. It is due to their prompt and efficient coordination that the fire was extinguished and potential further damage was averted.
Action taken by the LAFD, including the mobilization of resources like Engines 207, 24, 275, 289, 298, 7, 75, 77; Trucks 75, 89, 98; Battalion Chiefs 10 and 12; and Rescue Ambulances 7, 898, and 98, undoubtedly contributed to the rapid control of the situation. In the aftermath, crews will continue to monitor the site to ensure that the embers, once threatening to spread, remain a memory of what could have been a more destructive fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but its effects are clearly contained owing to the brisk yet measured response of the firefighters on shift that evening.
