This incident on U.S. 285 brought traffic to a standstill until officials cleared the roadway and reopened it by 2:28 p.m. The Colorado State Patrol detailed the unfolding of events in a news release; the extent of the vehicular damage and the subsequent snarl in traffic echoed the disarray that visited the fateful stretch between Conifer and Bailey, according to KDVR.
At the scene, the woman and four juveniles were occupants of the 2017 Kia, which suffered the initial head-on engagement with the 2020 Volkswagen, followed by an involvement from the 2022 Chevrolet, Denver7 reported. The drivers of the Volkswagen and Chevrolet, though involved in the crash, were not reported to have required hospital treatment.
