A 14-year-old girl from Lewisville ISD’s Marcus Ninth Grade Campus was killed yesterday after a pickup hit her while she was crossing a street near Marcus High School in Flower Mound. She was taken to Medical City Denton, where she later died from her injuries, and police say the driver stayed at the scene as they began investigating the crash.

The Flower Mound Police Department said the collision happened around 3:45 p.m. at Valley Ridge Boulevard and Browning Drive. According to a news release from the Flower Mound Police Department, a 2020 Chevrolet pickup that had been stopped at a stop sign pulled forward just as the pedestrian began to cross and struck her. The driver, a 60-year-old Lewisville resident, was not injured and remained at the intersection while officers documented the scene.
School District Confirms Freshman, Offers Support
Lewisville ISD confirmed the victim attended Marcus Ninth Grade Campus and said it was “deeply saddened” by the loss. The district said its crisis counseling team would be available to support students and staff in the wake of the student’s death, as reported by FOX 4.

Investigators have not publicly released the teen’s name and have not indicated whether criminal charges might be filed against the driver. The girl was transported to Medical City Denton and later died, and nearby roads were temporarily shut down, then reopened once officers finished processing the area, according to The Dallas Morning News.
