Former Suffolk County Police Officer George Trimigliozzi has been sentenced to two years in jail for his role in a prostitution ring. Trimigliozzi, who had previously served as a law enforcement officer, managed a brothel as part of a broader criminal operation led by Frank Saggio. According to Suffolk County Government, District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney stated, "It is particularly egregious when a sworn police officer abandons his duty to participate in criminal activity." The District Attorney's Office also described Trimigliozzi's actions as a violation of public trust.
Prosecutors revealed that, in addition to operating the illicit spa American Girls in Suite 3 at 6089 Sunrise Highway in Holbrook, Trimigliozzi, an 18-year veteran of the police department, misused his position during a robbery incident. While unauthorized to leave his post, he drove nearly 90 mph in his patrol car to respond to the emergency at his own brothel location. Following his guilty plea, Trimigliozzi also admitted to unlawfully detaining a woman in his car after a date in Patchogue.
The District Attorney's Office prosecuted the case with the efforts of Deputy Bureau Chief Laura de Oliveira and Bureau Chief Kevin Ward of the Public Corruption Bureau. The investigation revealed that the prostitution operation extended beyond the American Girls Spa to other locations, including the Tunnel of Love in West Babylon, which was managed by Dana Ciardullo, Saggio’s girlfriend.
Ciardullo and Saggio have pleaded guilty to their respective charges, with Saggio agreeing to a $1,875,000 forfeiture as part of his plea agreement. Saggio is represented by Anthony LaPinta, Esq. and Mark Lesko, Esq., while Ciardullo is represented by Nancy L. Bartling, Esq. Their sentences are still pending. Separately, Steven Arey, a 26-year employee of the Islip School District, has been indicted on 27 counts related to enterprise corruption and promotion of prostitution. Arey’s case is pending, and he is represented by Michael Brown, Esq.
