Residents at a Fort Worth apartment complex say they are rattled and heartbroken after a pickup truck barreled through a bedroom wall and killed a man inside. Witnesses described drywall crushed flat and furniture hurled into the hallway. As loved ones mourn, neighbors are pressing for answers while officials dig into what went so wrong.
Pickup Slams Into Ground-Floor Bedroom
Fort Worth police were called to the complex at 4633 Sycamore School Road just before 6:30 p.m., where officers found a red pickup that had left the roadway and crashed into a first-floor unit, according to NBC 5. The man inside the bedroom was taken to a hospital but was pronounced dead on the way there, the station reported.
Neighbors Grieve
People living nearby told reporters they believe the victim was asleep when the truck punched through his bedroom wall. "I drove up on the scene and it was really horrific. Just horrific," one neighbor told NBC 5. Family members identified the man to the station as 39-year-old Raidel Alvarez and said they have started a crowdfunding campaign to help cover funeral expenses.
