As the holiday season wraps up, it's not just Santa who's been busy in Fort Worth. The local Police Officers Association's nonprofit arm, Cops for Kids, has made a significant impact this December. According to a social media post from the group, an impressive number of 1,077 children had their Christmas brightened—thanks to their efforts.
Here's the rundown of the seasonal goodwill: about 700 teddy bears found their way to hospitalized children, multiple "Shop With a Cop" events brought cheer across communities, and a memorable evening at the YMCA included gift shopping, wrapping, and a festive bus ride through Christmas lights. Altogether, the nonprofit invested around $42,000 in initiatives directly supporting children and families during December. The expenditures covered a spectrum of activities from shopping sprees to emergency assistance. And, it's not just about December. The outreach extends year-round, with a laptop scholarship program and spontaneous acts of kindness by officers in the line of duty. The Fort Worth Police Officers Association's post points out the importance of their philanthropic mission.
None of this, however, would've been possible without a roster of supporters. The donors, including QT, James Wood Law Firm, CLEAT, and several others, earned a heartfelt shoutout for making these events feasible. The list of benefactors also features big names like Walmart, Target, and BNSF, among others—underscoring the community's broader commitment to the cause.
