Movies That Matter will host a free screening of the documentary We Are Guardians tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. The bimonthly film series, which focuses on human and civil rights issues, continues its mission by spotlighting the ongoing crisis in the Amazon Rainforest, according to the City of Fort Worth.
The 82-minute documentary follows Indigenous Forest guardians Marçal Guajajara and Puyr Tembé as they work to protect their land from accelerating deforestation. The film also presents viewpoints from an illegal logger and a landowner, illustrating the complex pressures driving resource extraction. Executive produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, the documentary explores the political, economic, and environmental forces shaping the region’s future.
Organizers encourage attendees to watch the trailer in advance and to secure reservations due to anticipated high turnout. Movies That Matter holds screenings every other month, with events scheduled in February, April, June, August, October, and December.
