Last Wednesday, December 17, a federal grand jury charged four individuals with illegal reentry into the United States, as reported by the Department of Justice. Each accused was located in the Northern District of Ohio, and the indictments assert that they were present without the necessary approval required by federal laws relating to immigration.
Anastacio Escobar-Roblero, a 33-year-old Mexican citizen, stands among those indicted. Escobar-Roblero, who had been previously deported on September 24, 2013, was apprehended on December 5 in Huron, Erie County. Similarly, Nixion Lopez-Peralta, 28, a Honduran national, faced a previous removal from the U.S. on February 10, 2020, and was found in Toledo, Lucas County, on December 1. The Department of Justice states these are individual cases, not connected incidents.
The other two cases involve Guatemalan citizens. Wilson Lux-Solis, also known as Jose Roberto Lemus-Solis, 25, was removed from the United States on October 2, 2019, but was discovered in Upper Sandusky, Wyandot County, on December 10. Manuel Lux-Tum, 51, suffered removal on March 9, 2016, and, like Lux-Solis, was found in Upper Sandusky on December 10.
These investigations were all directed by the U.S. Border Patrol's Sandusky Bay Station. Leading the prosecution for the Northern District of Ohio are Assistant United States Attorneys Matthew Simko and Frank Spryszak. Although an indictment signifies a formal accusation, it's crucial to remember that all defendants maintain a presumption of innocence until proven guilty in a court of law. The mentioned cases are aligned with a broader initiative named "Operation Take Back America," according to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Northern District of Ohio, which focuses on combating illegal immigration and dismantling cartels and transnational criminal activities.
