Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is under scrutiny as Officer Gary Moody became the fourth officer arrested on domestic violence-related charges in one month. News3LV reports that Moody, who joined Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in 2022, was booked on Sunday on suspicion of domestic battery and preventing or dissuading the reporting of a crime.
Officer Moody was arrested following other recent cases involving Officers Chandler Pike, Philippe Dinh, and Melinda Cooper. According to 8 News Now, Moody’s bail was set at $5,000 during a probable cause hearing. The department has not publicly addressed a possible pattern of domestic violence among its officers.
Deputy Chief McMahill said, "I believe that we can impact these through leadership and through wellness," and added, "When they make choices to commit a crime, they have to be held accountable," as stated by News3LV. Moody has been suspended with pay while under investigation, and other officers involved have been suspended without pay after their arrests.
