The Galt Police Department has announced an upcoming Sobriety and Driver's License Checkpoint, set to take place on the night of Saturday. The checkpoint will be operational from 7:00 pm to 4:00 am within the city limits of Galt.

The department says the checkpoint serves two purposes: legal requirement for advance notice and a reminder of the dangers of impaired driving. According to the Galt Police Department post, it is intended to “encourage responsible choices and prevent tragedies before they occur.”

The checkpoint is funded by a grant from the Office of Traffic Safety (@ots_ca) and is part of a broader campaign by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The Galt Police Department emphasizes its commitment to community safety: “Our officers are dedicated to protecting the community and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to arrive home safely.” The department also thanked the public for helping achieve this goal and encouraged residents to plan and drive safely during the checkpoint.
