A quiet Georgetown neighborhood turned into an active crime scene on Saturday after first responders discovered two men dead while checking out a house fire, and police say they now suspect foul play.
The scene sits in the 300 block of Pipe Creek Lane, where officers have taped off the area and are keeping cars and curious onlookers out. Drivers and residents have been asked to steer clear while investigators move through the home and surrounding property.
Georgetown police said they are "actively working a crime scene at a residence in the 300 block of Pipe Creek Lane." Responders found two men with signs of trauma while handling what began as a fire investigation, though "it is too early to speculate" about what happened or whether any third party was involved, according to CBS Austin.
The discovery comes just days after the body of an 18 year old was recovered at Lake Georgetown earlier this week, according to Hoodline, a separate case that drew a multi-agency search and heavy community attention, as reported when the body of the missing teen was recovered.
What investigators are saying
Officials say fire investigators discovered the victims and are treating the location as a crime scene while forensic teams comb the property for evidence. Investigators have not released the victims' names or any suspected motive. More details will be released by Georgetown police as they become available, per CBS Austin.
How residents can help
Police are asking anyone with information, photos, or video from the area around the time of the incident to contact the Georgetown Police Department. If you witnessed anything that could help investigators, call 911 for emergencies or submit a non-emergency tip through the department's usual channels. Officials say updates will be posted on the city's social feeds and through local media.
