Last Saturday, a heartwarming collaboration between local institutions brought joy to children and adults alike in Greendale. The day's activities started with children and officers sharing a ride on a school bus provided by the Greendale School District, expressing thanks to the district and the bus driver for their support, according to the Village of Greendale Police Department's Facebook post.
At Walmart, officers guided the kids through the aisles, as they selected gifts for family members with the help of gift cards from the retail giant. Following the shopping spree, celebrations continued with a pizza party at the police department, thrown by Ricardo’s. It was here, that the day's energy crescendoed in an indoor snowball fight that saw the kids triumph over the officers, as reported by the Village of Greendale Police Department.
The Village of Greendale Police Department's post beamed with pride as they recounted the day's highlights and acknowledged the surrounding community's crucial role in the event. As the children enjoyed their pizza, student volunteers from St. Alphonsus were diligently wrapping presents in another act of community togetherness. Walmart, not to be outdone, along with K9 Tiggy, handed out gift bags adding another layer of surprise to the children's day.
The event encapsulated the spirit of community involvement and support. "Sugared up, full of pizza, and carrying presents for their families, the kids headed home smiling—and so were we," said the Village of Greendale Police Department's post, a sentiment that resonated deeply within the community. The Village of Greendale Police Department also extended a heartfelt thank you to all who helped make the day possible, signaling a successful collaboration between the Walmart, Ricardo’s, the school district, and St. Alphonsus.
