Last Friday, a hit-and-run incident in Gulfport left two people seriously injured. Authorities have since made an arrest. Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) deputies identified 77-year-old Eugenijus Sviderskas, the owner of a red 1997 Ford Econoline van, as the suspect believed to have been driving during the crash. Deputies report that Sviderskas did not stop following the incident.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Eugenijus Sviderskas has been charged with two counts of Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Serious Bodily Injury and one count of Tampering with Physical Evidence. The victims, Michael Lynch, 61, and Kristen Lynch, 42, were injured while riding an electric scooter and are currently hospitalized. Before the accident, at approximately 7:21 p.m., multiple 911 calls were made reporting a hit-and-run at the intersection of Gulfport Boulevard and Luana Lane South. The vehicle involved, initially described as an older SUV with front-end damage and a triangular-shaped window, was later identified as Sviderskas’ van.
The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement is asking anyone with additional information to contact Deputy J. Toro at [email protected] or by phone at 727-582-6200. Sviderskas faces serious charges related to the incident, and authorities continue to seek information to support the investigation.
