Basic Academy of International Studies teacher Kristina Carmona was honored with the keys to a new Toyota RAV4 during the Rally in the Valley event, a collaboration between local broadcasters and auto dealers celebrating educators. Her assistant, Tammy Stinnett, who nominated her, praised her, saying, "She is awesome. Every day she comes to work with positivity. She has love for her students, love for her coworkers, love and spirit for her school," as reported by FOX5 Vegas.
Carmona expressed her gratitude for the recognition, noting how it eases the financial burden of vehicle ownership. She said, "It means the world to me, especially because Miss Tammy, my assistant, nominated me," reflecting on the significance of the honor in her career supporting special education students.
Basic Academy shared on social media that teacher Kristina Carmona was presented with a new Toyota RAV4 by Findlay Toyota, writing, "Congratulations to our very own Ms. Carmona! Today, Findlay Toyota surprised her with a brand-new Toyota RAV4 in recognition of her incredible dedication and the meaningful work she does for our students," according to Basic Academy of International Studies on their Instagram account. John Barr of Southern Nevada Toyota Dealers said, "Good teachers change lives, and we need good teachers," and, "To recognize one is just the start ... People that change people’s lives ... have got to be recognized, noticed and supported," as per FOX5 Vegas. The presentation took place during the Rally in the Valley event.
