
Hernando County Fire Rescue responded to a large barn fire in Brooksville yesterday. According to a social media post by the department, crews were dispatched just after 5:30 p.m. to a fire on the 5000 block of White Road.
When crews arrived, they found a 40-by-80-foot barn fully engulfed in flames. Fortunately, no humans or animals were inside the structure. "Firefighters confirmed there were no animals or humans inside the barn and initiated defensive fire operations," Hernando County Fire Rescue reported, focusing on team safety and preventing the fire from spreading. A nearby travel trailer was destroyed along with the barn, both considered total losses.
The fire was brought under control in less than 30 minutes. No injuries were reported among the firefighters. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
