Hickory residents, take note: 14th Avenue NW is getting a trim, but not the sort that freshens up your 'do. This one is all about trees and safety, and it's going to reroute traffic for two days in a row. For tomorrow and on Wednesday, the city's arborists will be wielding their chainsaws and cherry-pickers to prune back branches from Fourth Street NW to Sixth Street NW.
The closure will kick off bright and early at 8:30 a.m. and wrap up around the time the school kids are trudging home, at 3:30 p.m., according to the City of Hickory's official notice. If anything changes, updates will pop up on the city's website, so keep your browsers bookmarks at the ready.
