The Douglas County Sheriff's Office welcomes another turn of the calendar, local authorities are ensuring residents know what services will be affected during the New Year's celebrations. In what's become a standard practice, the Sheriff’s Office, along with the Highlands Ranch Substation offices, will be taking a brief pause to ring in 2025 by closing their doors on Thursday, January 1, in observance of New Year’s Day.
The closure, a nod to the importance of allowing their staff to partake in the welcoming of a new year, means that some administrative services won't be available on the holiday. However, in a communication released last Friday, December 26, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office was clear to differentiate the administrative pause from their ongoing commitment to public safety. "All 24/7 Emergency Services and 9-1-1 will be available during this time," ensuring that the residents can still rely on immediate responses for any emergencies that might circumvent the cheer.
Fret not, as this brief hiatus is not one of permanence. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office also announced, "Offices will reopen at 8 a.m. on Friday, January 2, for regular business," thereby resuming normal operations swiftly and ensuring the wheels of local governance and safety services lose minimal traction on account of the festivities. With the seasonal closure predictable, the community is encouraged to schedule non-emergency-related visits either before the New Year's Eve confetti falls or after the first sunrise of 2025 breathes its morning yawn.
