Hilliard comes alive with the spirit of giving and community service as the city announces its annual MLK Heart For Service and Volunteer Fair. Set your reminders for Monday, Jan. 19, when The Well at 3993 Cosgray Road will become a hub of kindness from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The fair aims to honor Dr. King's enduring legacy by providing locals with opportunities to engage in service projects that bring warmth and cheer to those in need.
According to a social media post from the City of Hilliard, Ohio - Government, participants at the event can contribute to 'A Little Bag of Birthday' and assemble 'No-Sew Fleece Blankets.' Both projects are designed to spread joy and comfort, respectively. In a unique blend of creativity and charity, bowls handcrafted by Hilliard City Schools students will be sold for a humble $10 apiece, with every penny earned going to the Hilliard Food Pantry. Adding to the attraction, the Kiwanis Club of Hilliard will prepare a soup, sandwich, and dessert lunch to feast upon while perusing the fair.
The event also serves as a meeting ground for those interested in connecting with local non-profit agencies. Attendees will have the chance to partake in various hands-on activities, such as creating kindness rocks and contributing to assembling an MLK puzzle - an embodiment of community synergy. Throughout the gathering, attendees are encouraged to pledge their dedication toward serving the community, honoring the collective commitment Dr. King advocated for.
As we look ahead to the fair, it's clear that the City of Hilliard's initiative goes beyond a mere day of service. Upholding the ideals of Dr. King, it is a testament to the power of collective action in fostering an environment where care for others reigns supreme. Gather your friends and family, mark January 19th on your calendars - the opportunity to make a palpable difference awaits at The Well, reminding us all of the profound impact a community united in service can have.
