In an effort to celebrate community spirit and the holiday season, the Hilliard Division of Police coordinated a unique event designed to recognize young individuals who exemplify good citizenship. The 'Heroes and Helpers Day,' a festive occasion that took place recently, offered several children the opportunity to enjoy a shopping spree at a local Target store. This initiative was largely funded through donations made by police officers, accentuating a commitment to nurturing positive relationships within the Hilliard community.
According to a social media post by the Hilliard Division of Police, the shopping adventure was followed by a pizza party back at the police headquarters. The holiday event not only created an atmosphere of celebration but also served as a platform for the children to engage with their local law enforcers in a non-traditional and joyous setting. The day is aptly described by the Division as "one of the best days of the year!" evoking the spirit of giving and community recognition.
Target, which played a significant role in facilitating the event, was thanked in the police division’s social media acknowledgment. Alongside Target, the local Hilliard Citizen’s Police/Fire Academy volunteers were also recognized for their indispensable role, dubbed as "elves" for their contribution to making the day materialize. It paints a picture of collaborative community efforts where businesses and volunteers come together with law enforcement to create an enjoyable and memorable experience for youngsters.
