Texas authorities have kicked off a holiday manhunt for a Fort Worth area fugitive wanted on multiple sex offense-related warrants, and they are warning the public to stay away. The alert centers on 63-year-old William Herrera Zamora, who is described as armed and dangerous.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is asking anyone with information to call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (1-800-252-8477) or submit a tip through its online portal. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward, and officials stress that members of the public should not try to make an arrest themselves, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Who Authorities Say They're Looking For
Local reporting that republished the DPS bulletin describes Zamora as a Hispanic male, about 5'9" and 160 pounds, with a tattoo on his left arm and a scar on his abdomen. He has been known to wear glasses and reportedly uses several aliases, including Augusto Castillo Flores and Guillermo Herrera Zamora.
The bulletin also offers an $8,500 reward for information that leads to his arrest, and it lists his last known location as Fort Worth, as reported by The Bull Amarillo.
Warrants And Past Convictions
According to the DPS bulletin cited by The Bull Amarillo, Zamora was convicted in January 2019 on 10 counts of possession with intent to promote child pornography and received a five-year sentence.
The same report notes that the Grapevine Police Department issued a warrant on June 9, 2022, for indecency with a child by sexual assault. The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles followed with a parole violation warrant on June 23, 2022, and Fort Worth police issued additional warrants on January 3, 2023, for failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements.
How To Report Tips
Anyone who knows anything about Zamora's whereabouts is urged to call 1-800-252-TIPS or send a web tip through the DPS tip portal. Tips may qualify for a reward and will be handled anonymously.
