
A tragic incident occurred last night in Pinellas Park when 28-year-old Kendall Wilson, who was reported as homeless, was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the street, later losing her life due to sustained injuries, per a statement by the police department. According to FOX13 News, Wilson was hit by a black Mercedes SUV while using a crosswalk on 66th St. N, leading to the devastating outcome that unfolded in a local hospital.
The SUV was heading south at the time of the accident, the crash happened in the vicinity of the 11700 block of 66th Street as clarified by the WFLA news piece, the Pinellas Park Police Department responded to the situation at about 8:10 p.m., and upon their arrival, Wilson was promptly taken to a hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. It was noted that Wilson was attempting to cross the roadway outside of the crosswalk.
The investigation into the incident by the police is ongoing, and they have cited that neither speed nor impairment were factors in the crash, a detail echoed across reports from multiple sources. As the investigation continues, the police have yet to release information regarding any charges being considered against the driver of the black Mercedes SUV, as the road was closed to allow for a thorough examination of the crash site.
Despite the absence of immediate peril on account of speed or drug-related impairment the driver and passenger in the SUV involved in the accident did not suffer injuries as confirmed by WTSP.
