Honolulu residents can expect isolated to scattered showers through Wednesday. Southeast winds will persist until then, with trade winds returning later in the week and drier conditions expected by the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
A cold front near the Hawaiian Islands is expected to stall and retreat. Northeast winds will carry a moisture band over the region, while land and sea breezes continue to drive typical afternoon and evening convection in sheltered leeward areas. Once the northeasterlies dominate, windward showers are expected to return to their usual locations.
Light southeast winds are maintaining sea breeze conditions in leeward areas. Mostly VFR conditions are expected, occasionally dropping to MVFR in heavier showers. No AIRMETs have been issued, indicating generally stable flying conditions.
Boaters and surfers should be aware that a stalled front west of Hawaii is maintaining gentle to moderate breezes across most waters. Stronger easterly winds are expected near the Big Island on Tuesday and Wednesday, and a Small Craft Advisory may be issued for Maui and Big Island waters, potentially expanding to other areas by Thursday. Surfers on north- and west-facing shores can expect surf near High Surf Advisory levels due to a northwest swell arriving Monday evening and peaking Tuesday.
There are currently no watches, warnings, or advisories in effect for the Honolulu area. However, residents and visitors to Hawaii should stay informed on the latest weather updates as the forecast develops over the coming days.
