The Houston Texans won 23-21 against the Las Vegas Raiders, extending their winning streak to seven games and improving their record to 10-5. Defensive end Will Anderson Jr. said, "It’s hard to win this league. With saying that, though, we have a standard in this building to where we want to play at and when we don’t feel like we play to that standard, everybody feels it. Sometimes it feels like, man we didn’t even win the game." Coach DeMeco Ryans said, "I’m proud of our team for continuing to find ways to win," according to AP News.
The Raiders showed a marked offensive improvement, gaining over 300 yards against the Texans’ top-ranked defense, though their nine-game losing streak continued. Coach Pete Carroll praised their effort, saying, "they came up with a great opportunity for our guys to go ahead and play free and play that kind of football where we could make big plays and we could make things happen and move the football."
Rookie Ashton Jeanty rushed for 188 yards from scrimmage and scored twice, while Geno Smith added two touchdown passes, including a 60-yard connection to Jeanty. Despite their strong effort, late penalties and the Texans’ clock control led to a 23-21 loss, with Smith noting, "All season long there's been a lot things that I wish we could've done better, but what I'm really proud of is just the way that we continue to fight."
