A Huntsville native, Ward began his career in radio before joining KTRK in 1966 and retired in May 2017, holding the Guinness Book of Records for the longest tenure as a television news broadcaster. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Laura Stoma Ward, three children, three stepchildren, and eight grandchildren, leaving a lasting impact on both his family and the Houston community.
