Dave Ward, a longtime broadcaster for KTRK-TV, has died at 86 from pneumonia-related complications. The City of Houston will hold several public memorial events this week, as reported by FOX 26 Houston.
Ward’s body will lie in repose on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Crime Stoppers of Houston Dave Ward Building, 3001 Main Street, with additional visitation on Thursday at Geo. H. Lewis & Sons Funeral Directors from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m., as per Houston Chronicle. A memorial service will be held at noon on Friday at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, 717 Sage Road, and the funeral will be broadcast on Ward’s long-time station, KTRK.
A Huntsville native, Ward began his career in radio before joining KTRK in 1966 and retired in May 2017, holding the Guinness Book of Records for the longest tenure as a television news broadcaster. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Laura Stoma Ward, three children, three stepchildren, and eight grandchildren, leaving a lasting impact on both his family and the Houston community.
