Irwin Borough is currently under the watchful eye of both local and county authorities as they investigate a shooting that took place last night at the Villages of Easton Apartment Complex. Irwin Police Chief Daniel Wensel confirmed to CBS News Pittsburgh that the incident occurred at the Bevington Building on Sweetbriar Drive, with initial reports coming in around 11:30 p.m. In light of the ongoing investigation, Chief Wensel assured the community that there is no further danger to the public.
The police response saw multiple officers at the scene, as observed by crews from WTAE, with the apartment complex situated conveniently off of Route 30. In a development that casts more light on the night's events, a suspect has been apprehended and is in custody, with charges pending transfer to the Westmoreland County Jail.
