Last Wednesday, Jacksonville officers and local anglers assisted in rescuing a stranded French bulldog on the Ribault River. According to a social media post from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, District 6 Officers Moran and Duggar responded to a call and found the dog on a small island in the creek, unable to safely reach shore.

The officers enlisted the help of two passing fishermen, who assisted by using their boat to safely retrieve the French bulldog from the small island. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office noted that the rescue involved coordinated efforts on both land and water to ensure the dog’s safety.

The rescue concluded with the dog, named Porky by Animal Care & Protective Services (ACPS), safely transported into their care. Officers ensured Porky’s safe arrival at ACPS, though the dog had no microchip to identify his original owner.
