The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has introduced the newest addition to their K9 unit, as reported in a recent post on their official social media account. Officer Chris Havens and his four-legged partner, Police Service Dog Ruger, have formed a vital duo on the force. Despite being together for just a few months, this team has made a significant impact by locating two missing endangered individuals within the community.
Always aiming to enhance their efficiency, Officer Havens and Ruger recently achieved their first National Police Canine Association certification. The certification process, as detailed in the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office's post, required the team to complete a complex half-mile track packed with twists and turns within an hour.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office emphasizes the importance of continuous improvement and advancing skills to better serve their community. "To earn the Trailing certification, the duo has an hour to complete a half-mile track full of twists and turns," the office shared in an official statement, showcasing the rigorous training and dedication required for K9 units to assist effectively in missing person searches.
