The City of Janesville has announced its holiday schedule, affecting various city facilities and services during the festive season. According to information released on the City of Janesville official website, closures will impact operations across numerous departments.

City Hall, along with other mainstays like the City Services Center, Fire Administration, JTS Administration, and Police Administration will be closed on December 24, 25, and January 1. The Hedberg Public Library will also follow suit, shutting doors from December 24 to 25 and closing early on December 31 at 1 p.m., not to reopen until January 1, as reported by the City of Janesville.

On December 26, most City buildings will be inaccessible while the staff undertakes training and project work. This includes the Senior Center, Water & Wastewater Utility Offices, and the Oak Hill Cemetery Office among others, as per the City of Janesville.

Transit services are also tailoring their schedule around the holidays, with Janesville Transit providing regular services on December 24 from 6:15 a.m. to 6:15 p.m., but suspending evening services. "No transit services will be provided on December 25," the City of Janesville states, with operations resuming the following day. Likewise, January 1 will see a pause in transit services; however, regular service will pick back up on January 2. Additionally, the schools' winter break means extra transit routes won't be available from December 22 to January 2, normalizing again when students return.

When it comes to keeping the city clean over the holidays, there are adjustments in the sanitation schedule to note. Residents are informed that no curbside refuse and recycling collection will happen on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. "All regular collection routes will be delayed by a day, with Friday collection being delayed to Saturday," as per the City Manager's Office. Christmas trees are not left behind in the plan, having a designated curbside collection the week of January 12, or as an alternative, residents may take trees to the Sanitary Landfill during regular open hours sans charge.  Those seeking further details on holiday hours or have additional questions are encouraged to reach out to the City Manager's Office at (608) 755-3177 for assistance and clarification, as reported by City of Janesville.
