JGA Space & Defense, formerly Joe Gibbs Manufacturing Solutions, plans to expand its Huntersville operations in 2026. The project is expected to create approximately 40 new jobs and involves an investment of over $25 million in northern Mecklenburg County, reinforcing the company’s growth in the aerospace and defense sectors.

The newly rebranded JGA Space & Defense, acquired by private equity firm Torque Capital Group in 2025, focuses on producing advanced solid rocket motor insulators, nozzle assemblies, and precision machined parts. The company has secured a 60,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Huntersville, scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2026. “We’re proud to break ground on our new state-of-the-art facility in Mecklenburg County because this is where our business began and where we want its promising future to continue to grow,” said Terry Culmone, JGA Co-investor and Strategic Advisor, in a city's announcement.

Huntersville Mayor Christy Clark expressed support for JGA Space & Defense’s expansion, noting its anticipated benefits for the local community. “We are so pleased that JGA Space & Defense is choosing to invest in Huntersville and help our community continue to thrive,” she said, according to Mecklenburg County. The expansion will create positions for machinists, quality control specialists, and engineers, with an average salary of $55,000.

Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners Chair Mark Jerrell highlighted the expansion as a positive development for the region. “This expansion is another clear reminder that Mecklenburg County is a place where new and evolving businesses can thrive and create real opportunity for our community,” Jerrell said, as reported by Mecklenburg County. The project reflects a coordinated effort involving Mecklenburg County, the Town of Huntersville, and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, aimed at strengthening the area’s position as a manufacturing hub.

Companies such as AVL Manufacturing, HSP US, and groninger USA have previously benefited from support by the County’s Office of Economic Development, and JGA Space & Defense’s upcoming expansion adds to the region’s growing industrial base.
