In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, a joint task force led by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department uncovered a large stash of narcotics and firearms across Southern California. According to a post on the official Facebook page of the LASD Narcotics Bureau, the bust was the culmination of a cooperative effort involving the bureau, the DEA in Los Angeles, and the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.
The collaborative operation led to the execution of multiple search warrants throughout Los Angeles and Ventura counties, where law enforcement officers found and confiscated an extensive range of illegal substances and weaponry. A significant amount of drugs seized includes 263 kilograms of methamphetamine, 19 kilograms of cocaine, one kilogram of heroin, and ten packages each containing 10,000 M30 pills—a total reported by KTLA.
Authorities also seized an arsenal of firearms from the implicated locations. The haul included four loaded handguns, two loaded fully automatic submachine pistols, one loaded assault pistol, and one loaded 7.62 calibre assault rifle. In addition to the firearms, assorted ammunition rounds, various pistols, and rifle magazines were part of the seizure, as was an undisclosed sum of United States currency.
The operation's success not only highlighted the persistent challenge of narcotics trafficking but also underscored the strength of interagency cooperation. "The close collaboration with our local, state, and federal partners reflects our continued commitment to protecting our communities and combating large-scale narcotics trafficking," was a sentiment echoed by officials in a statement obtained by KTLA. While the arsenal and drugs represent a snapshot of the ongoing battle against drugs, no information regarding any suspects arrested in connection with the case has been disclosed to date, as the investigation remains active.
