An 18-year-old Carmichael man is behind bars after Sacramento police arrested him on Tuesday in connection with a Sept. 2 downtown assault that later killed a man, authorities said. Detectives took Dominick Curtisgreen into custody and booked him into the Sacramento County Main Jail on homicide-related charges. The victim was transported to a hospital with blunt-force trauma and later died.
Downtown Assault At 11th And K
Officers were called just before 11 p.m. on Sept. 2 to the intersection of 11th and K Streets in downtown Sacramento, where they found a man suffering from blunt-force trauma. The victim, identified as 54-year-old Matthew Aldrich, was taken to a hospital and later died, as reported by KCRA.
Arrest Follows Months-Long Probe
The Sacramento Police Department says detectives kept working the case after the September assault and ultimately arrested 18-year-old Dominick Curtisgreen of Carmichael on Dec. 9. He was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail and is ineligible for bail, as per Sacramento Bee. Police told The Bee the coroner did not rule the death a homicide until a later date, and investigators said they developed evidence that led to the arrest.
