Kaua‘i police say a long-stalled homicide case may finally be moving. On Tuesday, the Kaua‘i Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for 57-year-old Gregory Glaser in the 2010 killing of Amber Jackson, a Kapā‘a woman whose body was found in a remote Keālia forest. The warrant charges Glaser with second-degree murder and sets bail at $1 million, marking the first formal charging step in a case that has lingered for 15 years.
Warrant, Charges And What Police Say
KPD officials say detectives spent years circling back to old evidence, re-interviewing people and chasing down leads before reaching the point where a judge signed off on the warrant for Glaser. The document alleges second-degree murder and lists his bail at $1 million, according to the county announcement and related reporting. According to the County's Facebook post, investigators say they are actively working to find Glaser.
Family Campaign And The Long Search For Answers
For Jackson’s family and supporters, the warrant is the latest development in a long, public push for answers. Earlier coverage noted the reward was increased to $20,000, a move families and advocates said was meant to shake loose new tips from a community that has not forgotten the case.
The county’s written announcement lays out how to send in information, including ways to submit anonymous tips. Officials say investigators have continued to re-interview witnesses and coordinate with other agencies, according to the Kaua‘i County press release.
Suspect's Recent Court History
Kauai Now reports that Glaser was identified early on as a person of interest after Jackson’s death and later left Kaua‘i. Court records and coverage show he pleaded no contest in August 2024 to second-degree assault connected to an April 1, 2023 shooting on Hawaiʻi Island and was placed on probation. A subsequent revocation of that probation led to a $5,000 warrant. Authorities describe Glaser as about 5-foot-8 and 160 pounds, with brownish-gray long hair, brown eyes and a dot tattoo on his abdomen.
How To Help
Police are asking anyone with information about Glaser’s whereabouts or details related to the case to contact Sergeant Brian Silva at 808-241-1908 or KPD dispatch at 808-241-1711. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers Kaua‘i at 808-246-8300. Those contact options are also listed in the Kaua‘i County press release.
Next Steps And Legal Note
Authorities say they are actively working to locate Glaser, who was last seen on Hawai‘i Island. They emphasize that an arrest warrant is a charging step, not a verdict. "The issuance of an arrest warrant reflects a finding of probable cause under the law," Kaua‘i County Prosecuting Attorney Rebecca Like said in a release, as reported by Kauai Now.
