
The Kaua‘i Police Department named Officers Kevin Kamakahi and Branden Barroga as Employees of the Month for October 2025, recognizing their investigative work and dedication to public safety.
According to a County of Kauai press release, Officers Kamakahi and Barroga helped solve a stolen vehicle case that led to the seizure of a loaded firearm and illegal drugs. Their investigation also resulted in a search warrant uncovering additional narcotics, ammunition, and links to multiple felony cases. Chief Kalani Ke said, "These recognitions reflect the kind of work our employees do every day."
Public Safety Workers Ernest Ganiron and Ronald Aceret were honored for November 2025 for their professionalism and dedication. They oversee the KPD Cellblock, ensuring safety and supporting detainees. Their efforts have had a meaningful impact, with one individual crediting them for achieving sobriety and steady employment.
Officer Desmond Thain was named Employee of the Month for December 2025. He has led investigations resulting in arrests for firearms, drugs, and credit card fraud, and has made over 20 DUI arrests, earning recognition from organizations including Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
According to a County of Kauai press release, Chief Ke expressed gratitude for his employees’ dedication and their families’ support, saying, "I am incredibly proud of their dedication and say mahalo to the families whose support makes their service to our community possible."
